How technology can help to change farm production, agri business and administration.
Sectors which have embraced technologies especially ICT has witnessed unprecedented growth. Such are Banks, Telecommunications, Air Transportation, etc. Agriculture sector need first to identify each individual farmer and digitally profile his details such as name, age, gender, farm equipment, contacts, location, farm size, crops, etc. Then keep record of his production (potential and current capacity), performance, loans, etc. After that the sector need to integrate all of its stakeholders to work collaboratively using digital platforms. While they do their work the digital platform will automatically capture all data needed for decision making, investment, markets, research, scrutiny, etc. These stakeholders are a farmer himself, government (and its agencies), banks, insurance firms, vendors and markets.
The moment the agriculture sector decides and starts embracing technology especially those fostering good governance, inclusiveness and competitiveness the sector will be inundated with unprecedented investments, competent workforce and world class market attractiveness. We will start seeing the agricultural value addition chain start to grow and prosper; we will witness financial and social inclusiveness to the entire population. Villages will stop being jungles and made world class livable
We Digital Mobile Africa (DMA)
After long observations and studies we came to realize that much of agricultural problems stem from stakeholders disintegrated dealings within the sector. The fact that there are many players in the sector should be beneficial to the stakeholders and the sector and not the opposite. The other problem we observed which results from disbanded working practices is the sector having incompatible data. This causes unreliability.
We then embarked on designing a single solution, which will provide a single digital working platform and a common data pool. This real time data pool is automatically amassed as these stakeholders do their day today duties. Refer the bank customer example who is served by different bank personnel and department but all they do goes to his statement or profile.
